Tempus Perspexum
Tempus Perspexum is actually one of the very first nixies that i have
built. The clock is using six Nixie tubes of the IN 18 type, one of the biggest
tubes of which only small amounts are available year-to-date.. They become rarer
by the day (and therefore much more expensive). As with most Nixies, also these
tubes come from old Russian army stocks (Ukraine)
The idea for Perspexum originates from both the transparency and untransparency
of the time that lays ahead of us all. Sometimes you know what to expect
tomorrow, sometimes you don't. The clock is built out of a total of 10 layers of
perspex (polycarbonate). The top layer is glossy black which gives a very nice
reflection in the dark. Inbetween are layers of highly transparent blue coloured
perspex. the layers are off-centered from eachother and with the clock's
lighting this gives a beautiful and unexpected view. Not only that but, as with all of my designs, it also
has a deeper and less obvious purpose... That's the beauty of Art and I leave
that to you to interpret!Sorry, this Time Piece is sold!
